Field Agronomy Sales Specialist

Location: Ames, Iowa

We are presently looking for a Field Agronomy Sales Specialist to join our team. This position will help lead the effort in educating growers, dealers and team members on the practical application and agronomic benefits of current and emerging precision agriculture technologies across multiple crop production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the practical research of Ag Leader products in various crop production environments through annual on-farm trials
  • Lead agronomy focused educational training, regional workshops and local farm gate discussions to communicate and demonstrate the agronomic benefits of precision technology
  • Leverage existing relationships with universities, industry experts and influential producers for on-farm and trial-based research, as well as foster new relationships
  • Summarize performance data to drive sales and effectively utilize available Ag Leader products
  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing team to ensure key agronomic resources and messages are available to field sales teams, dealers and end users
  • Work with Product Management to communicate dealer and customer needs and bring agronomic understanding to market opportunities
  • Identify real-life crop production and management challenges that farmers face and explore how Ag Leader can assist in solving these problems with current and future product and services offerings
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Marketing teams to position the commercial introduction of new products and services
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Up to 70% travel.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Ag Systems Technology or related field required
  • Thorough understanding of precision ag technologies and their applications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an agricultural-related field – through field research, Ag sales, extension work or farm management.
  • CCA (Certified Crop Advisor certification) or ability to obtain CCA within 12 months of start date
  • Comfortable presenting to small and large audiences and delivering information in a charismatic way.
  • Ability to lead and influence projects and coach individuals in accomplishing defined objectives and goals
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to gather, analyze and effectively present information on a variety of subjects
  • Strong teamwork and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Prior experience with Ag Leader technology is strongly preferred
  • Strong preference for someone based in or willing to relocate to Ames, IA
