Be Safe in the Field This Fall!

I can honestly say I don’t know how fall is here already, but it is. Seems like yesterday we were doing all we could to get the crop planted and now ¾ of 2015 is over and it is time for the combines to head to the fields. Something to consider before getting full into the harvest season is the safety equipment on your combine. Let’s take a moment to go over some items that should be inspected before the season begins.

What is in your technology toolbox?

Every operator has some form of a toolbox at their disposal in case a machine breaks down. When you open that toolbox you can find a variety of things. One operator may have a hammer and duct tape and can perform all his repairs with that. The next operator may have a mobile hardware store with every tool known to man. While the first toolbox scenario may be a little lacking the second may be excessive.

Don’t Forget to Manage Your Guidance Lines!

During the cold winter months is it easy to think that field work is a long time away. However the truth is the cold, ice and snow will soon be gone and it will be time to get back in the fields before we know it. There are several steps that can be taken now to ensure a smooth and productive year. Steps that aren’t usually overlooked are getting the planter and tractor ready, ordering seed, fertilizer, chemicals, etc. However one preparation task that can be missed is spending some time managing your guidance lines.
