Meet our new Human Resources Manager, Daren Westercamp!

Daren is originally from Bloomfield, Iowa where he attended Davis County Community School District. Daren received his undergrad degree in Business from Central College in Pella, IA. After graduation, Daren worked for Cargill in operations and spent time at several U.S. locations. As time progressed, he started to gravitate towards the softer skills of business and completed his MBA with a concentration in Human Resources from St. Ambrose University. Daren concluded his 12 years working for Cargill and decided to seek HR opportunities back home in Iowa. Daren went on to work for American Packaging where he was the Human Resources Manager for 9 years. Recently, Daren accepted and started his position as the HR Manager with Ag Leader and the company is thrilled to have him.

What does your position do?

My position focuses on human capital, organizational development, personnel training and overall administration of payroll and employee benefits.

What drew you to come work for Ag Leader?

The company had always been on my radar. Ag Leader is innovative, has the desire and capacity to grow, and is a leader in the industry, which I found very appealing, as well as the company culture you have here.

What do you enjoy most about working for Ag Leader?

I really enjoy the business environment Ag Leader has created. The company is a “results-oriented” operation yet maintains a relaxed feel to it. I also appreciate the culture of the company and the way people interact here.

What new things are you bringing to Ag Leader?

There are numerous great programs Ag Leader currently has in place. Perhaps I can make subtle refinements to continue to advance these programs. I have a few new ideas for additional programs. I need a little more time to understand the “Ag Leader Way” before making suggestions to implement.

What activities/hobbies do you do in your free time?

I value spending time at my parent’s farm as time allows. I’ve been going to Canada twice a year for the past 10 or so years to go walleye fishing. I was introduced to rugby in college and played for several years. I’ve hung up my boots since but continue to follow rugby at the local and international levels.

Welcome to the Ag Leader team, Daren!
