International Perspectives: Ag Leader Brazil Continues to Grow

by Jul 3, 2013International Perspectives

Ag Leader Brazil is happy to announce the addition of Fabio Castro as Coordenador de Vendas (Sales Coordinator).  Fabio’s main responsibilities with Ag Leader Brazil will be setting up new dealers throughout all of Brazil and assisting them with all things related to sales.  He has been with us since February and brings many years of experience in the ag market.
Fabio was born in Campinas, in the state of São Paulo, where his grandparents still live today.  He lived most of his childhood and adolescence in São Paulo City.  His family moved to Rio de Janeiro for three years for his father’s work then returned to São Paulo where he remained until college.  Fabio attended the Federal University of Lavras, in the state of Minas Gerais, studying Agricultural Engineering.  It is here that he approached and deepened his knowledge of agricultural machinery.  While in college he lived in what Brazilians call “Republic of Students”, which is a home where college students live together.  These homes usually include people from many different cities.  This time was one of Fabio’s best life experiences.

Shortly after graduation Fabio started to work for CASE IH of Brazil in the After Sales department.  In 2001 the CASE plant where Fabio worked at in Sorocaba was closed and moved to Curitiba to join the New Holland plant.  He then worked in New Product Development before moving to the Product Marketing Department where he stayed until 2011.  Fabio then left CNH and started working in precision agriculture as a Regional Sales Manager for Geo Agri (Trimble Distributor for Brazil) for two years before coming to Ag Leader.
Beyond the day-to-day work, Fabio’s life turns around his family, his wife Melissa and children, Francisco, 7 years old and Caio, 5 years old.  They live in Curitiba and enjoy the parks when the weather allows, biking and skateboarding. For the cold and rainy days they enjoy going to restaurants, cinemas and shopping centers.  As many of the family and the closest friends live in Sao Paulo, they also spend many days traveling.  Life with small children is very busy and it’s has gotten Fabio away from Jiu-Jitsu, which was a favorite past time before his children were born. He does believe that soon, as the kids get bigger, he can restart this sport. He also enjoys rugby and sailing.
We are very excited to have Fabio join our team at Ag Leader and help with the expansion of our distribution throughout Brazil.
