The Opportunity
We are looking for a person to join our Mechanical Design Team as a Prototype Assembly Technician. The team creates, iterates, and implements innovative Ag Leader products from first concept to initial production sales orders. In this position, you will work closely with teammates to develop, build, test, and document prototype cable assemblies in support of product development. You will have the opportunity to positively affect the design and manufacturing quality of all newly developed/modified cable assemblies. These cable assemblies are then used to interface with agricultural equipment in products that improve our customers’ lives.

Responsibilities
-
Fabricates prototype cable assemblies using only engineering drawings and documents.

Identifies errors and makes minor text-based edits/corrections to technical drawings as needed.

Creates detailed, well-organized, and clear cable assembly work instructions to be used by Manufacturing in the fabrication of production cables assemblies.

Fabricates all Manufacturing Gold Standard cable assemblies.

Tests and/or inspects product and workmanship to maintain quality standards.

Uses historical knowledge and best practices to identify and suggest improvements to increase quality and reduce overall cost.

Assists in cable tester test harness creation and setup in tester program.

Secondarily provides support to Manufacturing as workload allows.

Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications and Skills

High School diploma, GED, or higher
-
3+ years’ experience building Ag Leader cables is preferred

Intimate knowledge of existing Ag Leader cable assemblies preferred

Experience using and making changes in Agile PLM software is preferred

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook

Ability to assemble a cable or similar assembly from an engineering drawing with no written instructions

Ability to identify raw materials used to complete job function

Ability to use manual and semi-automated hand tools (i.e. crimpers, drivers, wrenches, wire strippers,…etc)

Must be able to stand and/or sit or any combination of either for at least 8 hours per day with allowed periodic breaks

Must be able to lift and carry containers or product weighing at least 25 pounds
