Together We are Ag Leader: Roger Demiter

by Jan 17, 2013Ag Leader

To make Ag Leader Technology successful, many people have to come together and work towards a similar goal. Over the next year, I will be introducing readers to some of the people that make Ag Leader possible. From our engineering department to our dealers and customers, together, we are Ag Leader.

This week we will meet Roger Demiter, one of Ag Leader's longest employees.

Name/Title/Time with Ag Leader: My name is Roger Demiter.  My official title here at Ag Leader is “Embedded Design Engineer.”  I started working for Ag Leader on Sept. 13, 1993, so this Sept. will mark my 20th anniversary with the company.

Role at Ag Leader: My role at Ag Leader is to design and develop new electronic products and modules.  I am involved from the schematic design phase, through PCB layout, prototype development, testing, and documentation.

What does it mean to be an “Ag Leader”? In my opinion, what it means to be an “Ag Leader” means living up to our Vision statement.  To be the most extensive and innovative source for all products precision farming related, while continuing to grow and expand into other agricultural areas and applications.

What’s the best part of your job or what’s your favorite project you’ve worked on? My favorite thing to do here at Ag Leader is the PCB layout portion of the design process.  This is where I get to put all the component footprints onto a printed circuit board and route all of the traces to the appropriate locations.  This is often a challenging process, but it gives me a sense of satisfaction when I finish a design and see that there are no clearance or connectivity errors on the board.  My favorite project that I’ve worked on so far is probably the AYM (Longbow) interface control module.  This module had a lot of strict tolerances and criteria that were quite challenging to meet.

What’s the title of last book you read or what do you like to do when you’re away from work? My goal in 2012 was to read the Bible from cover to cover.  I succeeded in doing that, and I plan to do it again this year.  I am also reading a book called Life after Death, which about a man who spent 18 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, and was recently released with the help of DNA evidence. While not at work, I enjoy bow hunting, fishing, and watching my daughter play volleyball.

Still don't get the “Together We are Ag Leader” concept? This might help:
