Ag Leader Fever Spreads from the Corn Belt to the Bible Belt in July

by Aug 2, 2011Ag Leader

“The heat is on” is a good way to describe the month of July, and not just because of the extremely hot temperatures. It was a whirlwind of events which had the Ag Leader Sales and Marketing team in a feverish frenzy bringing precision technology products and knowledge closer to growers and agriculture influencers from the Corn Belt to the Bible Belt.

INFOAG—July 12-14 It was all about interaction at the bi-annual InfoAg event in Springfield, IL. Jeff Bentley, GPS Guidance and Steering Sales Manager, was on-hand to discuss the latest and greatest in precision tools including OptRx™ crop sensing technology, and old favorites such as the yield monitor. You can check out the live interview with Jeff Bentley from InfoAg here.

Ag Leader's Chad Fick talks to growers at Corn College about crop sensing technology.

FARM JOURNAL CORN COLLEGE—July 18-22 Attendees at the 2011 Corn College in Heyworth, IL, learned about implementing the Systems Approach—a step-by-step process used in the field to identify the weakest link in a crop production chain. Representatives from Ag Leader – Lori Costello, Chad Fick, Rex Garthaus and Luke James – were on hand in the Corn College Expo tent to answer growers’ questions about precision agriculture technology.  Check out these top yield-boosting lessons from Corn College.

SOUTHERN PEANUT GROWERS CONFERENCE—July 21-23 Coordinated by the Alabama Peanut Producers Association, Florida Peanut Producers Association, Georgia Peanut Commission and Mississippi Peanut Growers Association, the annual Southern Peanut Growers Conference gave peanut growers the opportunity to learn more about legislative issues, peanut research and promotions. 2011 marks the first year Ag Leader has sponsored this event. AG MEDIA SUMMIT—July 23-27 Editors, photographers, publishers, freelancers, students and agriculture communication professionals arrived in the French Quarter of New Orleans, LA, to attend the 13th Annual Ag Media Summit. This event, the largest of its kind in the United States, is a joint meeting of the American Agricultural Editors’ Association, the Livestock Publications Council and the American Business Media Agri-Council. Two members of the Ag Leader marketing team – Lori Costello and Katie Beeler – took advantage of this industry-wide gathering to discuss Ag Leader products and services with key ag editors, network with other industry communicators and attend professional development sessions. Learn more about the Ag Media Summit in this blog post.

WYFFLES HYBRIDS' CORN STRATEGIES™ CONFERENCE – JULY 13 AND JULY 20 Hundreds of growers were in attendance at the Wyffles Hybrids’ Corn Strategies™ Conferences in Dixon, IL and Malcom, IA, to learn more about the latest technology and strategies to help on their operations.  Ag Leader attended these conferences to give attendees the opportunity to learn more about the products we have to offer and answer their precision ag questions. In addition, one lucky winner at each event went home with an INTEGRA™ display. The winner at the Illinois event was Warren Kelm, a grower from Genoa, IL. In Malcom, another Illinois grower, Jeff Peterson of Port Byron, was the winner. See the winners below, and learn more about the event here.
