Meet The Team: Dawn Harris

by Sep 6, 2019Ag Leader

At Ag Leader, we understand our employees are the heart of our company, and the personalities our customers and dealers interact with every day. Take some time to meet our team. These are the people who make our company great, and help bring cutting-edge precision technology to the marketplace.

Tell us the basics

Hi, my name is Dawn Harris. If you stop by to pick up an order or have a meeting, I am the first person to greet you. I have been at Ag Leader since 2012. I hadn’t planned on making a career at Ag Leader but fell in love with the company and the people, so I keep sticking around. I grew up on a farm in central Iowa and love the farm lifestyle. I went to Iowa State and graduated in engineering. I am married and have 4 grown children – two are married, one is a missionary in El Salvador and the youngest is at Iowa State. I am newly a grandma and have been making many trips to Omaha to visit my granddaughter in the NICU, Piper arrived 3 months early weighing only 2 lbs. 9 oz.

Tell us about your work

I started in shipping, I am now the receptionist and also help with Purchasing. You will find me answering phones, placing orders, getting pick up orders, checking out vehicles, greeting visitors, and answering questions – not all at the same time. My favorite part is that I get to meet so many people – from our dealers and customers to suppliers as well as most people in all the various departments here at Ag Leader.

Tell us about yourself

When I am not at work, I have lots of house projects, gardening and am watching my daughter’s dogs while she is out of the country. Even though I live in Ames, I have chickens in the backyard (can’t take the farm out of the farmgirl)! I am fairly involved with church as my husband Gary is a pastor and works full-time as a civil engineer at the Iowa DOT.

I love to cook and bake. I bring treats to share at work because I don’t need to have extra cookies sitting around! Since my job is at a desk, after work I like to do projects so I am up and moving around. There always seems to be a long list. If we travel, it’s usually back to Hawaii where my husband originally grew up. When I do get to sit down, I do read my Bible regularly and have several books going. The latest is “It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way” by Lysa TerKeurst.
